Quality of product, authentic Maori designs and creativity are the hallmarks of the Kia Kaha labels. Wear them with pride and courage!
Kia Kaha can be translated from the Maori Language as variously “Be strong and fearless!” “Stand tall!” or “Be Proud!” The expression is used in many situations to give encouragement and support to family, friends and team-mates.
Kia Kaha was established in 1994 as a casual apparel mail-order business, operated from a garage. It's immediate popularity with New Zealanders of all ethnic backgrounds saw it expand rapidly, and is now the umbrella title for a range of clothing suitable for all walks of life. There is casual everyday wear; a range of sports/school/ specific teamwear; corporate gifts, and high fashion under the Charmaine Love label.
Today Kia Kaha has retail stores as well as supplying retail outlets throughout New Zealand, Australia, the UK, US and Europe.
Our on-line shopping site ensures that customers have easy access to Kia Kaha products from anywhere in the world.
The inclusion of “Team-wear” into the Kia Kaha range has provided schools, sports teams, clubs and other groups with the opportunity to wear clothing with their own specific designs, appropriate for their particular needs. This range has a wide selection of accessories to complement the singlets, shirts, jackets, and track-pants ordered year after year by New Zealanders from all walks of life.
Television presenters and commentators of the Common-wealth Games proudly wore exclusive Kia Kaha clothing for the world to see.
In 2003 New Zealand’s number one golfer, Michael Campbell, invited Kia Kaha to jointly develop and launch the internationally recognized “Cambo Clothing” range of golf apparel. Michael’s success and high profile meant that the Cambo range had a world-wide profile. Many believe that the Mangopare (hammerhead shark) design on the back of his shirt at the US Open Golf Tournament in 2005, contributed to his spectacular win.
The awards won by Kia Kaha’s talented designer, Charmaine Love, have seen the company move from casual wear, team-wear and golf apparel, into the fashion scene.
The “Charmaine Love Collection", which has received numerous accolades from local and international celebrities for its unique designs and flair, has now become a highly sought after fashion label. Celebrities such as popular singers Ben Harper, Robbie Williams, Jack Black and 50 Cent have been photographed wearing shirts and jackets, while Fergie from the “Black-eyed Peas” was seen on the red carpet at the 2005 Aria Music Awards wearing an exotic Charmaine Love creation.
